Environmental Benefits:

In 2003, our customers saved 67,200 diapers per month from being thrown in the landfills! That was 806,400 for the 2003 year! We are working hard to increase that total every year.

One cloth diaper can be used over 200 times. One throwaway is used one time and it takes 40 years to grow the trees used to produce it! Also, throwaway diapers never biodegrade and the user does not flush the waste, leaving all that untreated human waste thrown along with the diaper into the landfills.

Baby boys have a great risk of sterility in throwaway diapers than cloth because of the chemicals that "pull wetness away." This is a health hazard that Pampers spends millions in marketing to keep you from hearing. Baby girls have more yeast infections with throwaway diapers due to the chemicals used to make them. ALL children tested proved to have ASTHMA-LIKE SYMPTOMS when 1 throwaway was used. Imagine using throwaways all the time!

Using cloth diapers, there will be NO untreated human waste in the landfills. Using throwaway diapers, people do not shake out the waste. Throwaway diapers are the reason there is so much untreated waste in the landfills. Throwaway diapers do not biodegrade. Using cloth diapers eliminates both these problems.

RASHING

In 1955, 100% of children were in cloth diapers and only 7% experienced a rash.

In 1998, 90% of children wore throwaways and 78% experienced a rash.

WHY? The chemicals used in throwaways cause more rashes to occur.

Cloth Diapers are the only way to go! Please let us help you make the very important choice for your child to be healthier from the start. Who wants to put a harsh throwaway on a newborn baby when you have the chance to use a 100% soft cotton diaper that is proven to be healthier for the child and the environment?

Cost Comparison

If you were to buy disposable diapers, your child still needs to be changed just as often as they would in cloth. The manufactures of disposable will tell you their product "Pulls Wetness Away" from baby's skin, but in reality, your child is sitting in a pool of urine or worse! Just because the diaper is "dry" it is still dirty and a breeding ground for bacteria. A dry diaper is NO substitute for a clean diaper.

As you can see, you will save a bundle with a diaper service as we use water conserving washers and high output dryers that save energy. Many parents who buy disposable think nothing of spending $15-$20 on diapers while shopping for groceries, which quickly gets hidden in the total bill. When the hidden cost is revealed and the cost of additional diapering because of delayed potty training( they can't feel that they are wet and don't know any better) it is clear that cloth diapers are far less costly than disposable.

FACTS NOT FAIRY TALES

It takes 20 trees to diaper one baby through a diapering period. 6,000-10,000 throwaway diapers

1 ton of solid waste is created by 1 baby wearing throw away diapers

18 billion throw away diapers were used in the US in 1996, enough to stretch back and forth to the moon 7 times!

These 18 billion throw aways generate 3.6 million tons of untreated human waste in our landfills.

The lifecycle of a throw away is 15 minutes to 1 hour on the child, but will molder in the landfills for over 500 years.

Choosing Earth Smart will greatly help the statistics and the landfill issues that are facing our nation today.

The correct washing of cloth diapers provided by our service is 40% over diapering with paper diapers that are thrown in the trash, kind of like wearing paper underwear! Cloth diapers are much more comfortable for your child. Disposable diapers are blamed for many health problems from yeast infection in girls to sterility in boys! Please consider this in your big decision. Remember, DISPOSABLE DIAPERS THROWN AWAY TODAY WILL STILL BE AROUND IN 2500!
